The Journey

Travel to historic Gulu, on up to the grassy wide open plains of Kidepo Valley National Park for big game viewing and time with the Karamajong people. Travel down through Murchison Falls where the Albert and White Nile rivers merge and enjoy viewing crocs and hippos on boating safaris. On down to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for Gorillas among tangled jungle and south again to volcanoes and Lake Mutanda. Walk or horse ride in Lake Mburo…and finally head home. A wondrous tour of much of the magic that Uganda has to offer.

 Suggested Itinerary

This is just a start point to give you some ideas. We can adapt the trip as needed to ensure you get the adventure you are looking for.

Day One: Arrive Entebbe. You will be met by your guide and taken to your accommodation within 10 minutes drive. Time for rest before heading off on your adventure!

Day Two: Travel to Gulu en route to Kidepo Valley National Park.

Days Three - Five: Travel to the most isolated region of the country, Kidepo Valley National Park; home to big game in big herds, 86 mammal species and 475 bird species and sparsely populated by the Karamoja people. One of east Africa’s most magnificent wildernesses the landscape is dramatic with the rugged mountains of Kenya and South Sudan the backdrop to vast open savannah.

Visit Lorokul and meet the Karamajong, climb to the peak of Mount Morongole and spend time with the IK people, and enjoy sunrise and sunset game drives.

Days Six - Eight: Drive to Murchison Falls for game viewing and Nile exploration in Uganda’s largest National Park. Go in search of lions, leopards, elephant, giraffe, buffalo and hyena among bush dotted with coconut palms and acacia. Take a boat safari up to the thunderous falls and hike to the top to witness the coming together of the blue and white Nile rivers.

Days Nine & Ten: Chimp trek in Kibale National Forest then head south in search of the Tree-climbing Lions of Ishasha before heading south to Buhoma ready for your time in the jungle!

Days Eleven - Thirteen: Enter Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and head off in search of the Mountain Gorilla among the tangled jungle. A whole host of primates and bird life await you in there; it is simply magical. Go luxury or stay in the community at R4W women’s empowerment initiative where you can stay in comfort and (if you like) learn how to dance the Kiga rhythms, cook traditional Uganda foods, or weave baskets. If cocktails are your thing head to Buhoma Lodge and sample one of Laban’s own special recipes!

Day Fourteen: Trek through Bwindi or drive South to Lake Mutanda for a dugout canoe trip with views to the Virunga volcanoes - stunning.

Day Fifteen: To Lake Mburo for a last night under canvas among a zebra filled park. Take a walking safari, boating safari on the lake or perhaps safari on horse back to explore the bush in a whole new way.

Day Sixteen: It’s time to head back to Entebbe but with an important stop at the Equator on the way! If time allows chill out at the Botanical gardens on the shores of Lake Victoria before your flight home.
