The Journey

This is one of our favourites. The journey begins with tracking rhinos in the wild, before heading north to the stunning Murchison Falls and the crocs and hippos of the great Nile river. Head south to sparkling crater lakes and tea plantations, trek with the chimps of Kibale and discover the secrets of the swamp before moving on to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Mountain Gorillas and time in the community of Buhoma. East to Lake Mburo with a walking safari or a spot of horse riding before heading back via the Equator to Entebbe, its botanical gardens and Lake Victoria. An epic trip!

Highlights Of The Trip

  • Tribal dances of the Bakiga

  • Tangled Rainforest of Bwindi Impenetrable

  • Close up encounters with Mountain Gorillas

  • Boat ride to Murchison Falls

  • Top of the Falls hike

  • Sunset cruise on the Nile

Suggested Itinerary

This is just a start point to give you some ideas. We can adapt the trip as needed to ensure you get the adventure you are looking for.

Day One: Arrive Entebbe. You will be met by your guide and taken to your accommodation within 10 minutes drive. Time for rest before heading off on your adventure!

Day Two - Four: Drive North to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where you will trek with a ranger on foot to see some of the 26 Rhinos close up. After lunch continue north to Murchison Falls, the biggest National Park in Uganda. Get ready for viewing game and big surprises - roof up and wind in your hair! You will also cruise up the great River Nile to the thunderous Murchison Falls and if you like, take a hike to the Top of the Falls (this is a special climb - just 45 mins on foot and well worth the effort).

Day Five - Seven: Head South through the tea plantations and past Lake Albert and Butiaba escarpment to the lush green Kabarole region & Fort Portal for chimp trekking and a visit to Bugodi Swamp or the sparkling crater lakes with views to the Mountains of the Moon (Rwenzori Range).

Day Eight - Ten: On to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a tangled jungle where the Mountain Gorillas await you. Enjoy the community of Buhoma, nestled in the misty rainforest and a warm welcome at R4W women’s empowerment group, where (if you like) you can cook, sew, dance and weave baskets or simply relax with a cocktail or two (Laban’s own recipe) at Buhoma Lodge in the forest itself.

Day Eleven: To Lake Mburo for a tented camp experience, a walking safari, horse riding and lazy sundowners to the grunt of the hippos on the lakeside.

Day Twelve: Drive to the Equator for a fascinating experiment with gravity together with lunch before heading to Entebbe. Visit the Botanical Gardens on Lake Victoria before your flight home.
