What Inspired Us?
It was the desire to give something back that formed the initial driving force behind Tambula Safaris. Working with women’s empowerment group Ride 4 a Woman in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, an almost unfathomable passion and energy for all things Uganda took root, which I brought back to the UK and could and cannot let go of. The need to be back on a regular basis has meant the gradual accumulation of incredible experiences in this beautiful country - a place that sets you free, opens your heart and shifts your soul. Talking to family and friends they asked to come along, share the experience, get involved. And so Tambula Safaris was conceived…

Our Story
One trip, one trek and a whole new direction.
After just one short trip to Uganda, founder Sharon Hedges was inspired to design and offer a set of customisable adventure itineraries wholly focused on this spectacular country and where authenticity and responsibility form the heart of the customer proposition. Sharon spends time aplenty in Uganda, (she can’t actually stay away!) so there is always something new to explore, discover and embark upon.
Our Partnerships
Eve & Denis at R4W are our big inspiration and one of the major reasons we keep going back to Uganda. Tambula was borne out of the desire to share knowledge, skills and time with organisations in need. At R4W we help with marketing, fundraising, sales strategies and action plans. We also partner with Bwindi Plus Primary School, Bwindi Community Hospital and a number of other initiatives across Uganda. We love to chat about it so do get in touch.
Our Approach
We aim wherever possible to partner with organisations looking to create a positive social impact, who work responsibly and who are eco-friendly; whether they provide accommodation or activities. Our clients are by default giving back as they travel since income enables continued support of our charitable partners and the communities they help.

Our Managing Director Sharon Hedges developed a passion for Uganda when she began working for a women’s empowerment initiative deep in the heart of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Realising just how much more Uganda has to offer than its utterly beautiful Mountain Gorillas, Sharon now wants to share her love for the country and its people with others so that they too can enjoy their own unique journey in this incredible country.
